THE PROJECT
While it is important to recover and inventory fragments of our past, it is also extremely important to collect and preserve the present. Preserving memory is more than just keeping objects. Preserving memory begins with freezing the present, both material and immaterial.
We know that digital preservation is a constant challenge. The ephemeral nature of digital data requires special care. However, we believe that this effort is fundamental if future generations are to know and appreciate our art.
In this archive, we have gathered a record that portrays the essence of each creation, from the artists who created them, the materials that make them up, to their presence on stage. We share not only the results of our work, but also the processes through the challenges we faced and the solutions we found.
It is a tribute to the art of puppetry and a testimony to our journey.
For the time being, the current record of the collection only covers puppets and a few props. In order to guarantee the full preservation of the collection, detailed photographic documentation of set designs and costumes is essential and will be prioritized in subsequent stages. Similarly, documentation and the library — whether physical or digital — will also be processed and made available gradually.
