OBJECT_DESCRIPTION_EN :
The mask is a symbol of this personification of the river that invades the characters themselves.
The incorporation of golden contours reflects the idea of wealth and the beauty of the river, and is an artistic choice that refers to the symbolic richness of the River Douro.
This mask is worn by a puppet and is removed and placed on another puppet. When the mask is removed, it reveals the puppet, who has been hidden until now, as an old fisherman. He is looking for a replacement so that he can stop being the guardian of the river, and he himself turns out to be an old fisherman who has also made a pact with the river.
The same mask is also used at certain moment by the actor.
OBJECT_CONTEXT_EN :
The show explores the personification of the river Douro through the encounter between the fisherman Quim and the wealth that flows from the bottom of the river. The narrative touches on social, emotional and cultural aspects, against the backdrop of the traditions and legends that surround life on the banks of the Douro. Featuring a symbiosis between actor and puppet, the play highlights the complex relationship between human beings and nature.
