OBJECT_DESCRIPTION_EN :
This puppet is part of a show created in various partnerships between Portugal and Norway. During our artistic residency in Norway, the illustrator Theodor Kittelsen served as a source of inspiration for many of the figures in the show. As well as studying the Portuguese cod fishing routes, which in the Second World War involved fishing on the New Coast, i.e., in Norway's territories, we felt that this connection could be expanded in a show that belongs to a very specific audience, the baby audience.
The puppet has holes where the manipulators place their fingers or toes, using the figures as an extension of their arms to simulate the swimming of the fish, which moves around the stage and among the little spectators, conveying a gentle, docile and calm character. The manipulation is very organic and the manipulator's body is affected by the movement.
This puppet belongs to a group of puppets with identical characteristics, simulating the idea of a shoal when the puppeteers and the audience symbolically dive into the water and get to know various sea creatures.
