OBJECT_DESCRIPTION_EN :
This puppet is part of a larger group of puppets made from fabric, all with the same aesthetic, which comes from their proximity to the aesthetic of the artist who made them. They are children, inhabitants of different regions, countries, and continents whose common axis is the Portuguese language spoken there.
Travelling through Portugal, Brazil, Mozambique, Timor and Macau, we also travelled to Goa, in India, where the Portuguese word is still present. However, we wanted to take this puppet to a different dimension.
With these different puppets having different skin tones, and with great respect for the religious beliefs of a country as vast and diverse as India, we wanted this puppet to have the blue color of the child Krishna, an Indian religious deity. In this way, we have brought together a culture that is also, in some way, a legacy of past contact, made at the time of the discoveries, and which still today leaves traces of a common culture.
This puppet also wears a red dot, bindi, on its forehead, and its costume is populated by the flowing fabrics that characterize the culture. The blue of this puppet, knowing that it is a symbolic color, is also reflected through the scenic structure itself in direct contact with the identity of water. The large, open eyes are characteristic of the artist's language, and are present in the same way in all the puppets.
Manipulated like a glove puppet, the index finger manipulates the head, the thumb manipulates the left arm and the remaining fingers manipulate the right arm, making it possible for the puppet to hold, grab and pull scenic elements.
Constructed from textiles, there is a natural softness to the puppet and a pleasant sense of size, bearing in mind that this puppet is being presented in a show aimed at a very young audience, namely babies.
