OBJECT_DESCRIPTION_EN :
The complex and beautiful puppet was inspired by one of the Handspring Puppet Company's puppets, after creator Clara Ribeiro saw the show ‘War Horse’.
In our show to which this puppet belongs, the King feeds on all his subjects' possessions, including their animals. In this show, the manipulators/actors are a complement to the puppet and the puppet is a complement to the character.
The interdependence between the puppeteers and the puppets is fundamental in this show. The puppeteer/actor plays the animal itself, complementing both, resulting in a hybrid artistic entity that transcends the boundaries between puppeteer and puppet. The puppet functions as an extension of the actor's body, while the actor gives it human qualities and emotions.
It has such a realistic level of detail and movement that it conveys animal emotions and suffering.
The puppet construction took into account principles of biomechanics and animal anatomy, and it has mechanisms that allow it to move with just one handle, reinforcing the illusion of life.
