OBJECT_DESCRIPTION_EN :
Inspired by the traditional Portuguese legend ‘A Moura do Rio Douro’ (The Moor of the Douro River), the character is born from an assemblage of everyday metal objects to form a new and unusual element. The use of these utilitarian objects adds a layer of creativity to the narrative and invites the audience to observe the new and imaginative forms, thus enriching the theater experience.
This assemblage allows the puppeteer to explore the relationship between objects and the meaning they acquire in different contexts, here used to symbolize the embodiment of the strength of the Douro River.
In terms of construction, the puppet is made up of a variety of objects that give it its shape and identity. Despite being a single volume without joints, the puppet requires the skill of the puppeteer in order to suggest movement and expression that convey life.
The creation of this character follows the principles of object theater. The combination of objects into a recognizable and symbolic figure evokes the idea of life and the cycle of nature, as well as its transformations.
