OBJECT_DESCRIPTION_EN :
It is carved out of wood, head and hands, and a torso made of painted fabric, commonly known as anima.
In order to make this puppet, a study took us to the Grão Vasco National Museum, in Viseu, where there are different religious sculptures that refer to the sculptural characteristics of medieval times, in a disproportionate relationship between body, limbs, and head.
OBJECT_CONTEXT_EN :
The show depicts what are believed to be the first representations outside churchyards in the medieval period, with figures brought from inside the churches by wood-carving monks who represented at religious events and ceremonies. The representation thus connects with the religious, Christian narrative that tells the story of Adam and Eve, their encounter with the serpent and their expulsion from Paradise, the genesis of the dogmatic beliefs of the Christian religion.
